A Visit From Olivia McTaggart

Kauri Team was lucky enough to have had Olivia McTaggart come and talk to us today. Olivia is a New Zealand pole vault athlete who competed at the Commonwealth Games.

It was inspiring to hear of the challenges and obstacles she has been faced with, but also her determination to be her best.

Her visit was actually a prize from a previous Weetbix Tryathalon awarded to one lucky Room 24 recipient. Rita didn't know until today that she had won and that her answer to a question was chosen over hundreds of others. Well Done, Rita!

Road Safety Week

Road Safety Week is about encouraging families to think about how they can help everyone have safe and active journeys to and from school.  Parking away from the school and walking in helps keep the area outside the school safer for students.  Walking, biking and scootering is a great way to add exercise into your week!  Please remember to use the crossings, it may take an extra minute or two but it is another way we can help you to stay safe.

Athletics Day 2020

Yesterday Room 24 spent the day down at Lovelock Track with the rest of the Year 3-6 students for our annual Athletics Day.

It was a great day with the rain staying away, and all students participating in the events.

Well done to the four students who represented Room 24 in the class relay coming in an awesome second place.

Thank you also to the parent helpers for your time yesterday. It is always needed and greatly appreciated at these events.

Kauri Team School Camp

Last week, the Kauri team was very fortunate to spend three days up in the north of Auckland at a camp in Shakespear Regional Park.

The weather was amazing, the location was stunning and the children were absolutely buzzing.

It was a busy three days jam-packed with a variety of activities which saw many children attempt activities outside of their comfort zone.

A massive thank you to the parent helpers who gave their time, energy, and enthusiasm over the three days. Thank you also to those parents who managed to come up for the day.

The Kauri team students were very lucky to have spent part of their day with coaches from Kelly Sports.

They learned different games and activities and had loads of fun. I also received fantastic feedback about Room 24 showing all of our school values. Tino pai Room 24!

Finishing Calendar Art

Over the past week, the students of Room 24 have been finishing off their calendar art.

There was a focus, and some new learning around a one-point perspective and this is what their art is based upon.

Check out their individual blogs to see their finished products.

They should all feel super proud of their achievements.
